About the Show

What is The Vault?
The Vault is an original combination of social experiment meets reality game show. In short, twelve cast members will descend into an underground fallout shelter in an undisclosed location for a period of one year. They will have absolutely no communication with the outside world, except specific information that Vault Producers choose to provide them. Basically, we can see them, but they can't see us.

Cameras will be rolling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, capturing the events and then broadcasted in daily episodes to the website for subscribers to witness. This is our opportunity to see how normal, everyday people will react in the event that a catastrophic event forces us to seek shelter below ground.

There has been no other experiment or entertainment initiative to ever resemble The Vault. It is original in its scope as a reality entertainment show and unprecedented in its scale as a psychological experiment. What we learn here, could impact the way we plan for the future as a society and is likely to impact our viewers in far deeper ways.

What will the cast "do" while they are underground?
During the year that the cast is isolated, they will be tasked with a series of challenges that will test their ability to survive should a doomsday event happen for real. With both individual and group challenges, some will be emotional while others represent physical and practical skill sets that are critical to survival in an emergency situation. As would be the case in a real-world doomsday scenario, their success or failure will determine their fate underground.

Cast members will also be asked to document their status daily through a video blog called the Confessional, rate their emotional status quarterly, journal and maintain important social norms that preserve the integrity of humanity in survival situations such as these.

How did you select the cast for The Vault?
While each cast member was carefully chosen and underwent significant psychological testing, it is impossible to know exactly how one will react in such a severe circumstance. Stress, depression, agitation, fear, panic and anger are all legitimate emotions that the cast is likely to experience during the course of their time inside the bunker.

What do they get for going underground for the year?
Cast members who remain in the Vault for the full year will be rewarded financially while cast members choosing to leave at any point prior to the official Vault opening, will not receive a financial reward. This scenario most closely resembles the way a real-world doomsday event would unfold. Those remaining in the bunker and choosing to work through all challenges will remain safe, while those who might choose to leave before it is safe to return to the surface of the earth, would clearly face severe consequences.
